How to Care for Bamboo Clothing & Sleepwear

Bamboo clothing isn’t just soft, breathable, and eco-friendly—it’s also incredibly comfortable and easy to care for. With just a few mindful steps, you can keep your garments looking and feeling their best.

We believe in Slow Fashion and create classic styles designed for longevity. By following these simple care tips, you’ll extend the life of your bamboo clothing and continue to enjoy the natural comfort of every piece for years to come, as we aim to never go out of style!

1. Wash with Care

Bamboo fabric is delicate, but there is no need for handwashing. Just wash it gently to maintain its quality:

  • Use cold or lukewarm water (max 30°C) to prevent shrinkage.
  • Select a gentle cycle on your washing machine.
  • Use a mild, eco-friendly detergent to protect the fabric's natural fibres.
  • Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals, which can weaken the fibres.
  • For our bamboo bras, we recommend washing them in a lingerie/delicates laundry bag to prevent the underbust elastic from twisting.
  • We also recommend using a laundry bag to protect your bamboo garments if washing with items that have zips, velcro, buttons ,or clasps.

2. Drying Done Right

To maintain the softness and shape of your bamboo clothing:

  • Air drying is best. Lay garments flat or hang them in the shade to prevent stretching.
  • If using a dryer, choose a low-heat setting to avoid damage.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods, as it may cause fading.
  • Try to avoid using a clothes airer for drying as it can leave a white fold mark on darker bamboo garments. Any marks will wash out with the next wash :)

3. Ironing & Wrinkle Care

Bamboo fabric is naturally wrinkle-resistant and any creases will fall out with wear, but if needed:

  • Use a low-heat setting on your iron.
  • Steaming is a great alternative for removing wrinkles without direct heat.
  • You can get away without ironing your bamboo clothing if you store them neatly (this is one of the many reasons why bamboo garments are so good for travel!)

4. Storage Tips

  • Fold bamboo garments neatly instead of hanging them to avoid stretching.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep away from rough surfaces that may cause pilling.

5. Handling Stains

  • Treat stains promptly with a mild soap and cold water.
  • Gently blot (don’t rub) the stain to prevent damage.
  • Avoid harsh detergents and don't use bleach.
  • For oil or grease stains, give this trick a try: Mix toothpaste and dishwashing liquid to make a paste and place where the oil stain is (don't add water). Wait for 5-10 minutes. Prepare a separate basin/tub with cold water and add baking soda, then hand wash the clothes in the basin until the stain has been lifted.

Bamboo clothing doesn't require much extra effort. With just a little attention, your garments will stay luxuriously soft and comfortable for years to come x
