Where are your sheets and garments made?

While we ship from Australia, the majority of our items are ethically made in China with organically-farmed bamboo.

What makes your garments ethical?

We work with a lovely team in China, all highly skilled designers and workers. Our suppliers received both WRAP and BSCI certifications in 2020:

  • The Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) program is the world's most accepted independent certification for the apparel/textile, footwear, and sewn products industry. The program monitors and certifies lawful, humane and ethical production. , this shows the garments are made ethically.
  • The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is an industry-driven movement that aims to monitor and assess workplace standards across the global supply chain.

In addition to the above, the workers' wages go up every year, it's not just a living wage.

Is bamboo a sustainable resource?

Bamboo is nature's fast growing plant and is pest resistant, which means it can grow without the use of pesticides or fertilisers. It also requires much less water to grow than cotton, so no extensive irrigation is required for it to flourish. Bamboo also absorbs more carbon dioxide than the equivalent stand of trees.

Our bamboo fabric also has organic certification, FSC forest certification, OEKO ecological textile certification, CTTC pure bamboo product certification, ISO enterprise management system certification.

Is bamboo organic?

Bamboo has natural defences against pests so it can flourish and grow organically without the use of pesticides, fertilisers or chemicals.

How do I care for bamboo clothing?

To wash bamboo clothing we recommend turning items inside out and washing on a gentle cycle with cold water. Avoiding washing together with rough fabrics such as velcro. Wash with like colours where possible and please do not bleach.

We recommend that you always line dry, in the shade if you are able to (please turn the garment inside out if drying in direct sunlight). You may tumble dry on a low heat, but doing so is at your own risk as your garment may shrink. There is no need to dry clean.

Bamboo Blankets and Throws: we recommend that our throw rugs and blankets are dry-cleaned to ensure that they maintain their wonderful silky soft feel. For this we recommend using a GreenEarth Cleaning dry cleaner to ensure no toxic chemicals are used.

Bamboo Sheets: Please do not use bleach or fabric softener when washing. Do not wring or tumble dry. We recommend that you line dry in the shade. A cool iron may be used if required.

Do I need to iron bamboo clothing?

You can get away without ironing your bamboo clothing if you store them neatly (this is one of the many reasons why bamboo garments are so good for travel!) We find that any creases drop out with wear. However if you really insist, you can use a cool iron.

Is bamboo fabric suitable for sensitive skin?

Bamboo fibre is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic. It is also naturally much softer and silkier than cotton, making it kinder to sensitive skin.

Is bamboo clothing and fabric suitable for pregnancy?

Bamboo is a lovely fabric to wear throughout your pregnancy. It is soft, lightweight and breathable. Many of our bamboo styles have soft fabric waistbands, and all of our bamboo blends have elastane for stretch. Bamboo also holds its shape well so you can wear throughout your entire pregnancy and beyond.

Is bamboo fabric better for menopause than cotton?

Bamboo is significantly better than cotton at wicking moisture away from the skin. This makes bamboo sheets a good choice for menopausal women experiencing night time sweats. Bamboo fabric is also thermo-regulating, so it keeps you cooler in summer and warmer in winter while still being lightweight. Bamboo pyjamas are also recommended for menopause for a much more comfortable sleep.
